words I'm supposed to "hear"....
Do you ever notice that when you are trying to ignore things you are supposed to pay attention to, they get through to you one way or the other???? This morning while checking my "Flylady" emails (lots of cool testamonials) there was one from Flylady regarding going to the funeral of a 46 year old married father of two who died from complications of diabetes. (nudge #1) A little later I went and caught up on my blog reading and low and behold I read in Pat's blog "off to have eyes checked cuz of diabetes". (stronger nudge!)
For those of you that don't know, I am diabetic. How ironic, I've been addicted to sugar/sweets since I was little! Sugar is to a diabetic what that one drink is to a drinker, that one cigarette to a smoker .... it's one step closer to choosing serious health issues or even death. For most people, it is all about choice.. we know better, but we ignore the obvious, thinking "it won't happen to me"... not much different thinking then what the younger generation has about life in general. What goes on in our heads that doesn't let us take care of ourselves the way we would take care of a child, a parent, a friend? I have been nudged strongly today and would encourage those fighting with their own issues to fight back, get well, choose to live!! Cuz guess what? It CAN happen to us!
Stay safe and well.. take care of you and yours... hugz

As an alcoholic, heavy smoker and a diabetic your words did not fall on deaf ears. I often wonder which one will kill me first. Fortunately I have the alcohol to numb my brain so I don't have to consider this for very long. I still firmly believe I will be killed in a car crash.... I let Barb drive now so if we are both killed, it's her fault!
