Checking ads for any available ARK..

I live in So. California and am amazed at the amount of rain we are getting. If I didn't know better, I tell you I think we were going to slide into the ocean sometime soon! The amount of damage, the loss of life, roads disappearing.. all caused by water... Mother Nature remains all powerful! My girls were driving home from work through one of the heavy times of rain this week and a 40 minute drive took them almost 3 hours. Standing water of up to 12" covered the street from one side to the other, their windshield wipers couldn't keep up with the downpour and fastest speed was about 5mph. Scary stuff!!! Especially when people you love are having to drive in it!! We had sunshine for about 2 hours this morning and looking outside now the clouds are moving back in for what is supposed to be another thunderstorm before we get a 3 day reprieve until the next storm on Sunday. Anyone have any pull with Mother Nature????

Not much is new here. All this rain has grounded me, somewhat..lol, but for fun I've gotten in some good pool playing time and getting caught up on movies and for the boring stuff...there's always housework! haha. We have family coming in from out of state today and Saturday we're having a lunch reunion that I'm doing the cooking for, and Sunday evening will be a ladies only pajama party for the Awards. Please RSVP asap and bring a munchie to share! :) I will be providing the Poor Man's Cosmopolitans in beautiful martini glasses! (pic to follow)

Two of my 3 trips are now booked with great fares, but Vancouver still remains out of my reach. Please send up extra prayers that they lower the price! I'll hold on to my RSVP card for now, Pat... just know it's right here waiting..lol

Ciao for now... stay safe, well, and DRY! hugz :)

I am so touched by Dini's blogs the last couple of days.. her insights, her passion, her thoughtfulness as she touched on such a delicate subject.... explaining her feelings while giving respect to her friend. I'm sorry he felt there was only one way out.. easiest for him, the most difficult for those he left behind.

How was I to know that so soon after reading about this sad situation I would be sitting at Veterans Hospital today with my girlfriend's son who overdosed two days ago. I am thankful that God saw fit to keep him here. After listening to him in a short phone call last night, and the visit this afternoon, I cried as I drove away ... the despair, sadness, lonliness and utter lack of finding anything positive worth living for just broke my heart. He's 41 years young, has 6 children and 1 grandchild. He has had a lifelong struggle with drugs, as sadly have many of his family members and 14 months ago his mom died in his arms, his name being the last word she spoke. His demons are strong and hold him tight... I am afraid for him. I don't understand..I've never stood at that edge.. I understand the despair.. was there.. but couldn't imagine not living. Today gave me just a glimpse into what Dini's friend might have been going. Please keep Michael and his family in your prayers and thoughts and pray that he has a "lightbulb* moment where he finds the will and desire to LIVE.

Go see Hitch..good laughs and good comments on the single life for men and women. Tomorrow is about love.. share it with someone that could use a loving word...if you have a honey..remember how lucky you are to have found that someone.

stay safe and well... God bless and Happy Valentines!

not much new...

I'm finding that there's not much new recently ...so blogging has taken a very back seat in my world. Mostly I'm busy with a number of projects I've chosen to get involved with. The most recent is creating a scrapbook for my aunt and uncle's 50th wedding anniversary this September. I am gently, for now, nudging family members to go through their pictures over the last 50 years and make copies to be included in the book. I will also be asking for funny stories.. perhaps a short letter .. suggestions anyone? My aunt and uncle would like all of the family to be there so my girls and I are perusing all the travel websites for a good fare, preferably nonstop, to Florida in early September. I was thinking Europe this year..guess not. (I always think..lol)

Our weather was fabulous for the last week but right as the weather man said (for once) .. rain is again in our immediate forecast. Pray for only a small amount as many of the hillsides have still not had enough time to dry out and stay still. In a very exclusive neighborhood here, 3 mansions have been slowly slipping away...folding into thenselves as the hillside was still moving 1 inch an hour until Tuesday of this week.

No big plans for the weekend. Dancing on Saturday evening which is always a pleasure for me. One of my friends will be there celebrating her 50th and will make it a party!!

Can't think of anything else at the moment... stay safe and well.. hugz

Angels come in all forms! :) Posted by Hello

It's going to be Monday already???

Wow....this weekend passed so quickly! Time flies when you're having fun, they say! This weekend was a good combo of work and fun. Yesterday I attempted, yet again, to get this apartment rented. The apartments I manage ususally rent as quickly as the signs go up as they are nice, priced well and, of course, I manage them...lol..but this time I'm not getting near as many calls and most of them are questionable at best. With the economy the way it is and So. California being expensive to live in anyway, many more people are trying to fit 3-5 adults into a small one bedroom apartment. It's not a good thing. Any of you need an apartment in So. Cal???? Oh well, the right person is out there somewhere. :)

A & B and I enjoyed lunch together yesterday and then went to see the Wedding Date. What a good movie.. yes, it IS more of a chick flick and good luck Dini in getting Rick to take you.. I know he loves those kinda movies...lol. Yesterday evening was more rented movies .. Carolina Girl with Julia Stiles and Shirley McClaine, I highly recommend it.

Today was 3 1/2 hours of playing pool and enjoying lunch with a couple of gf's.. a quick stop at the scrapbooking store where I didn't spend a dime... this time! lol Then home to watch The Human Stain...also a very good movie.

I owe, I owe...so back to work I'll go! Have a fabulous week!

Stay safe and well!

weekly catch up...

Nice to be here again. :) The last week has found be struggling to remain on line and a couple of days, I had no access at all. Seems my cable is having "intermittent" signals coming through and I have to wait til Saturday to find out why. And we pay them all that money for what? So, if I'm mid conversation, or don't actually answer.. most likely my signal is fading... just know, I'll be backkkkk...hehe

I'm in the midst of a project that is giving me some grief, but I will be victorious!!! And when I'm not fighting with my project, cleaning my house, or..oh yeah...working..lol...I've rediscovered my love for online backgammon. It's been great fun and I'm working on whooping one of our channel regulars!! lol

Home has been relatively peaceful AND healthy..ssssshhh. Everyone has been busy and we greet each other as we pass on our way to or from somewhere or as we go move cars..lol One of my friends suggested I have a ;pajama party for the Awards on the 27th..any interested in joining us??

Weather is fabulous right now. If you're in need of a vacation, this would be the perfect time.. temps in the mid 70's..sun and blue skies and light breeze. This is the weather that brings people to CA ...and aslo keeps some of us here. :-)

all for now...stay safe and well..
